Early Beginnings
In August of 1977, Michael K. and Thora A. Riley founded AMRO (A Michael Riley Operation). The Riley Family conducted business from their private residence until November 1, 1977, when the Metal Fabricating facility opened its doors in an 8,000 square foot South El Monte building, with 6 employees. AMRO supported commercial metal fabricating for companies such as Hepa Corporation, Ryerson Steel, and Calavar Corporation.
AMRO began venturing into the Aerospace Industry in late 1979, with the fabrication of a Stair Case Platform for TRW Systems. AMRO's customer base continued to grow and the company upgraded to a much larger South El Monte facility by December of 1980, employing approximately 25 people.
In mid 1986, AMRO was awarded an ISOGrid Panel
Contract by Mc Donnell Douglas to support the Titan Program,
giving AMRO the opportunity to specialize in the Bump
Forming Process of ISO GRID forming of the Barrel Panels
for External Tank of the Space Shuttle.
AMRO's dedication to provide complete customer satisfaction has allowed us to expand throughout the years. We now have four facilities totaling 7,500 square feet in office space and over 150,000 square feet of fenced in yard. We currently have approximately 100 employees, AMRO's annual sales exceed 15 million dollars.
Today AMRO is a leading supplier of precision machined parts, major assembly tooling and ground support equipment. We also provide turnkey solutions including design engineering, N/C programming, certified welding, CMM inspection, heat treating and assembly work which makes AMRO the go to guys.
We are still growing and now proud to be supporting development for the next generation space craft ARES.
